Mappin’s Convertible Travel clock/purse watch with sliding case circa 1955, with case finished in alligator leather and marked on side with two US patent numbers, the first from 1953 and second from 1955. In the closed position the watch is easily carried in a pocket or purse and when opened a small support leg springs out allowing the watch to be used as a travel clock. The action of closing the sliding case also winds the watch at the same time, it can be wound by turning crown or by opening and closing case multiple times. Photos are not actual size, the case measures 79 mm across x 36 mm when open and 54 x 36 when closed.
