The following description is from the Birks 1911 Year Book “These watches have heavy 18-carat gold cases. No. 321 has our fine “Windsor” movement….. ABOUT OUR WATCH MOVEMENTS……. The accuracy of our watch movements is due to conservative and careful introduction of mechanical improvements as they appear from time to time in the science of horology. Novel invention is at all times avoided. Our one aim has been to make each movement measure up to the highest practical standard of excellence in its own class……… The value of a watch movement increases with the number of jewels it contains, A ” full jewelled ” one is recognized as standard when it contains 15 jewels. Our ‘* Windsor ” movement contains 18 jewels. It is of solid nickel, most highly finished and adjusted so as to run correctly in any position and conform to most extreme changes in temperature, with the utmost uniformity.”
