During the first world war many small pocket watches were converted to wristwatches by soldering on lugs and adding a leather strap. These watches are commonly referred to as “transitional” or “trench” watches and are popular with collectors today. The reason for these conversions was to make the watch more accessible for timing of military maneuvers, having to pull one’s watch out of the pocket to see the time just wasn’t practical in the trenches. This Omega watch offered for sale is a recent conversion, it is an authentic Omega with signed case and movement and a refinished dial, dial is incorrectly marked automatic, watch is manual wind. The case has a gunmetal finish and is fit with a hand made bracelet. The manual wind movement has just been serviced by our watchmaker it is working well. Photos are not actual size of watch, it measures 47 mm across (not including crown) x 55 mm lug to lug and is fit with a custom made leather bracelet.
